THAILAND; Songkhla Province,.Chana..Java caged birds are lined up for a singing competition (whilst their owners sit and drink sothern Thai tea and chat).The highly prized birds can fetch over 1 million baht, whilst their eggs can sell for 5,000 baht each. Gambling is a part of life in this area, and these competitions are no exception. The curved metal cages can cost as much as 85,000 baht if the bird owner desires jade or other jewelled ornamentation.
